Choosing The Right Nappy For My Baby
There are a number of things to consider before purchasing your cloth nappies
- Will they fit a newborn
- What nappies suite my budget
- What is the most absorbent (re heavy wetter)
- What is the easiest nappy to use (all you have to do is put it on)
- What is the trimmest fitting nappy (will it fit under clothes without too much bulk)
Newborn
Fitting a newborn can sometimes be a little daunting. Nappies are generally quite big & swim on newborns, but remember they do grow quite quickly. Newborns also need a snug fitting nappy that will contain the runny poo's & wee. There are a few options to choose from.
Snug Fit & Contains Well-this is the way to go if you are looking for a nappy that fits snuggly & contains well. I would recommend the following brands of nappies - Kissaluvs Fitted Size 0 Nappy, Swaddlebees Newborn Organic Velour Nappy, Motherease Sandy's XSmall Nappy, Lil Joey's AIO, bumGenius XSmall AIO, Swaddlebees Mini Nappi, Blueberry Deluxe Mini Nappy & Happy Heiny's Mini Nappy. The Bummis covers are fantastic with the Kissaluvs, Swaddlebees & Bambineo Nappies. The Motherease Rikki Cover is fantastic with the Motherease Sandy's Nappy.
More Economical Option - Try using a prefold nappy with a Bummis Cover. They won't be quite as snug as a fitted but they will certainly work well. I suggest the Kissaluvs & Swaddlebees Prefolds or the Bummis Prefold Nappy Kits. Great way to save $$$$.
Budget
If you want to save money when purchasing your nappies then try the "Onesize Nappies". These nappies are becoming very popular & will fit from newborn to toddler. Special note - Onesize Nappies will seem quite big but will certainly work (for a newborn try adding a cover for extra protection from leaks). I have a great range on Onesize Nappies. Check them out in the Onesize section of my website.
